My favourite carol

Here I leave you the carol we will sing in class next Friday. I like this cracking version of the song.

Congratulations

Our team of Robotics took part in the Basque championship of Lego last Saturday. They spent the whole Saturday showing their robots and they arrived at the final part. In the end, they got a very good 5th position of Euskadi. Well done! We are very proud of you.

Zalla BHI on television

Last week ETB came to our institute. Some of our students are preparing some robots to take part in an International contest of Lego. The programme where our friends appeared is "Sut&Blai" and it is really very interesting.

Here you can visit their blog and their webpage

Merry Christmas

Next Friday we will have to answer a very easy quiz about Christmas. It could be interesting if you read some websites about Christmas traditions previously. The winner of the quiz will receive a sweet gift and a lot of congratulations. Try to get that honour by visiting these links that I include here:

Alfred Nobel's timeline with Dipity

Nobel Laureates (2)

After filling the chart with your chosen laurate, it is time to write his or her biography. Remember several things:
-the verbs must be in past (3rd person singular)
-Narrate the events of his/her life in chronological order
-Don't forget to use time expressions like "in 1996" "when she was 18" "At the age of 35" "between 1990 and 2000"
-You could include a pair of nice pictures
-Use only words that you understand and know its meaning (cope and paste is not accepted in this writing)

You should share the writing with me (Google Docs)

Some of my students' good examples:
Susana's biography (Octavio Paz)
Itsasne's biography (Willis Eugene Lamb)
Maitane's biography (Otto Loewi)

What did you do yesterday?

Real English is not so easy. Listen to these interviews and try to understand what they did yesterday. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the regular verbs /t/, /d/ or /id/ (as we practiced in class). Don't desperate, it is a question of time, sure!

Nobel Laureates (1)

Now you know more about Alfred Nobel's life. Do you think he had an interesting life? According to his will, Alfred Nobel's enormous fortune was to be used to establish prizes to award those who had done their best to benefit mankind in the fields of physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and peace.

In this exercise you should choose a Nobel Laureate that died, and find information about his or her life. Click on this link and choose one. You can find that person's own autobiography. Other good source is wikipedia (in English, of course).

The first step is to fill in the table that you can download from scribt and then, share with me (Google Docs)

On the day I was born ..

Here you have some webpages to find information about what happened on the day you were born. If you find something interesting, it could be a good idea to write a post about it.

"On the day I was born, 15th of March, 1967, the Beatles recorded this song "Within you without you" for their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

Here you can listen to the song.

What are they doing?

As you can image, we are revising the present continuous and a bit of vocabulary. Did you like "Kipper the dog"? Anyway, now you have to write the story of the cartoon. Don't forget to include the linkers we have seen today on the blackboard and a simple presentation of the characters and the initial situation.
Here you have the different scenes you could comment on, when writing the story. Ok?

Some of my students' productions:
Igor's story
Amaia's story
Oihane's story
